SEMINAR ON
OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH IN THE MINING & QUARRYING
INDUSTRY 2003
Theme : Towards Sustainable Mining & Quarrying Practices BACKGROUND
The Malaysian Chamber of Mines together with the Malaysia Quarries Association and the Institute of Quarrying Malaysia, as the lead organisations in the mining and quarrying industry in Malaysia, jointly organised a half-day Seminar presenting and discussing relevant matters and issues towards advancing and promoting occupational safety and health awareness in the mining and quarrying industry. Experts in their respective fields including representatives from relevant government authorities as well as the industry were invited to speak on the subject matter during the Seminar. A half day visit to a quarry site in Selangor were organised for Seminar participants which was held in the afternoon. The joint organising of the Seminar was part of the said three organisations pro-active efforts towards highlighting, creating and increasing the awareness of employers, employees and the fraternity on the importance of occupational safety and health in the mining and quarrying industry.
